BUMMERS TO VISIT FROGHILL

New wave group The Plod were a household name back in the 80’s, and their erstwhile singer Stink still is. But what of guitarist Andy Bummers? What has he been doing since those heady days of fame and fortune?

It's more than 20 years since The Plod broke up, but this doesn’t mean that Andy has been idle. Quite the opposite: he’s done everything from composing film scores (including Kevin Costermonger’s Wartyworld and The Totty Guard, starring Witless Houston) to starting a disinfectant company. He even released a solo album, entitled Sting, Where Is Thy Death?, which sold over 70 copies worldwide.

And now the multi-talented Andy has written a book. Entitled Regatta de Wanc, the semi-autobiographical novel is to have its official launch at Books-U-Like on Friday (November 3).

Andy's book is a wacky chronicle of life before, during and after the career of a trio who make anodyne white reggae music. It’s a real page-turner and was described by one critic as “a wonderful antidote to insomnia”.

Andy will be autographing copies of his book from 12.30pm at Books-U-Like, St Alfege St, Froghill. Tickets £1 in advance, £28.50 on the door.

Regatta de Wanc, by Andy Bummers, is published by Ladybird Books, price 99p.
