AMERICA HERE HE COMES – AND IT’S ALL FOR CHARITY
Intrepid local soldier Kevin Baldock is at it again. Earlier this year, Corporal Baldock, of the 2nd Squadron, Royal Engineers, pedalled from land’s End to John O’ Groats on a tricycle.
This time he’s planning to be a bit more adventurous – he’s going to swim the Atlantic.
Corporal Kevin Baldock, 23, of The Willows, Swansdike, is an avid member of his regiment's swimming team besides being an enthusiastic weekend transvestite.
Cpl Baldock’s ride last March netted £98.27 for the Army Recognition of Sexual Equality Society (ARSES), a charity which promotes transgender issues in the military.
Speaking to the Observer, the plucky cross-dressing corporal said: “The tricycle ride generated a huge amount of publicity and pulled in a fair amount of money. I'm hoping this time will be even better."
So far, he’s had a promise of sponsorship from local manufacturing firm Chittling’s Balls and Brackets.
Cpl Baldock, who starts his epic bid from Southampton on December 2nd, will wear silky lingerie and high-heeled flippers throughout the swim. The twin compartments of his brassiere will be filled with ball bearings and his panties will be emblazoned with the slogan 'I get my bearings from Chittling’s'.
In order to counteract the weight of his brassiere, Corporal Baldock’s panties will be inflated with 30 cubic metres of helium prior to his departure.
“I should make the crossing in about 3 weeks and I hope to be back for Christmas,” said Cpl Baldock.
“I’ll be following the QE2, so I should be able to take advantage of her slipstream to help me keep my speed up.”
Any other companies wishing to offer sponsorship can contact Cpl Baldock on 446 2820.
